
Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) arrested two suspected drug peddlers along with Yaba pills, locally-made firearms, electronic equipment and cash of Tk 1.03 million from Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Thursday night.
The arrested were identified as Faiza Akter, 19 and Ayub Ali, 37, both residents of Sabroom Mandalpara village in the upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB officials conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo with Yaba pills.
BGB also seized 19200 pieces of Yaba pills, locally made firearms, walkie-talkies, CCTV cameras and cash of Tk 1.03 million from their possessions.
BGB-2 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the arrested duo has been handed over to Teknaf Police Station, and a case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
